A short introduction to the LogWalls program.

Why LogWalls?

When I tell people in log house factories about the LogWalls program they usually say something like this: "I'll take some old log drawing and edit it, it doesn't take a long time for me." I believe it, but anyway, you can do it faster with LogWalls.

I want to raise one thing that doesn't easily come into mind. It is the faultlessness of drawings and logs. When you edit an old drawing, using any method, in order to create a new one, keep the following things in mind:

   - When you edit the size or the place of an opening, can you see the log lines, log marks, dimensions and the plan upgrading themselves automatically? In LogWalls you can.

   - When you move a wall, can you see intersections in all necessary walls upgrading themselves automatically like the log marks, dimensions and the plan? In LogWalls you can.

When editing with the ordinary CAD-program, only one intersection in a wall is needed to be placed in a wrong position, and the cost will easily rise to the level of the price of the LogWalls program.

GENERAL

Version 3 is for sale at the moment. The program is a perfect match for log house factories and planning offices.

The installation package contains three example drawings. There is a user's guide which describes step by step how to create one of these example drawings.

You don't actually draw anything: instead, you just give different parametres - like the wall height, width and model  - for the walls, openings etc. At any moment, the program shows you what you are doing. After all walls are ready, you can print out the walls directly from the program, or you can save the drawing in DXF-format. The DXF-drawing can then be opened into another DXF-compatible program such as some CAD program.

The logs created with the LogWalls program can be imported 3-dimensionally to the Datacad program. You can then add e.g. 3D roofs, windows, doors in Datacad and let it create elevations. At the same time you get 3D pictures.

The LogWalls program's compatibility is tested against the following programs: Datacad 10/11, AutoCad Lt 98/2000/2005, AutoCad 2000, TurboCad 12, JCAD 7/8, VoloView Express 2.01, MiniCad 7.0.0, Cads 9.0, ArchiCad 6.5, Corel Draw 8, Micrografx Designer 7 and Micrografx Simply 3 D. Other DXF-compatible programs can probably be used with LogWalls too.
